Ex Machina a science fiction thriller is about the human experience, emotions and the relationship we have with technology. The movie reveals the characters are not as they seem in a twist that makes the audience question their understanding of AI and whether the Turing Test is really enough to judge character.
Part of what intrigued me about the movie is the clean, modern aesthetic and the dynamic between the male human and the female robot and how the male gaze plays into our understanding of humanness. I wanted to focus on the transformation of an object that appears one way but eventually becomes something more than imagined.
Designed and animated in Cinema 4d, comped in after effects.
